Equal Opportunity & Diversity

Talent, creativity and passion – those are the qualities the Max Planck Society and our institute in particular rely on. Our mission is to create a welcoming environment and support employees of all backgrounds, regardless of their gender, nationality, religion, disability, age, sexual identity, socioeconomic status or cultural background. As a STEM institution, we particularly aim to attract female scientists to work at our Institute and to strengthen their visibility in the scientific community.

Welcome to the AEI page on Equal Opportunity and Diversity! We are happy to see you here! This is the place were you can find resources on the topic, find out more about our team, check out our current projects and get to know how you can participate and make a difference.

Your current Equal Opportunuty Officers (EOOs) Darya Niakhaichyk and Max Corman (AEI Potsdam), as well as Shrobana Ghosh and Serena Giardino (AEI Hannover) are here to serve you as the main contact persons for questions related to gender equality, diversity and equality of opportunity at the institute.

Our role mainly includes:

  • participating in the AEI recruitment processes
  • providing employees with training offers on unconscious bias & diversity
  • counseling in cases of discrimination or harassment
  • fostering inclusion at the institute.

Here you can find how you can get in touch with us, in case you have any questions or need help. You can either use our individual email addresses mentioned on this page or the EOO email addresses below:

  • eoo-p@aei.mpg.de (for AEI Potsdam)
  • eoo-h@aei.mpg.de (for AEI Hannover)
Here you can find an overview of resources and contact points for female scientists, LGBTQ+ members, families, as well as employees with disability.
Our mission is to help establish a culture of diversity at the institute. We are here to come up with concrete steps on how to make the AEI a more inclusive place, prioritize the measures, and track the progress.
If you are looking for the gender and diversity-related policies or regulations at the AEI and the Max Planck Society, this is the right place. Happy browsing!
Learning about unconscious bias, conflict resolution and diversity helps us all maintain a fair & friendly working environment.
The AEI signed the “Charta der Vielfalt” diversity charter in February 2022, in order to express its commitment to diversity and equality of opportunity.
