A talk as part of “Cosmic Wednesday”: Gravitational waves are a fundamental prediction of Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity. They have been repeatedly measured in recent years and played a central role in the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics. Gravitational waves can be used to study the universe in a completely new way, as we can now also hear it. Some of the big questions of modern physics and astronomy may be answered in the future.
