Exhibition by Silke Britzen: “Metamorphoses of colour”
Opening on 24 August 2007 at 7:00 pm in the central building of the Max Planck campus in the Potsdam-Golm Science Park, Am Mühlenberg 1, 14476 Potsdam.

The world of flowers and plants is at the core of Silke Britzen’s creative work in painting: the coming into being and the passing away of flowers as expressively presented in the powerful colours she employs - supported and exaggerated by the relief-like structuring of the colours - are the preferred theme of the works on display.
In apparent contradiction thereto was Silke Britzen’s other, scientific passion: the coming into existence and the passing away of galaxies, something that takes place on much larger scales of time, constitutes the main focus of Britzen’s research work as an astrophysicist.
Her artistic works are intended to cause delight and not to instruct, regardless of whether those viewing them have scientific interest or not.
The exhibition in the central building of the Max Planck campus in the Potsdam-Golm Science Park shows more than 30 oil paintings by the artist.
