Gravitational Waves as Probes of Astrophysics, Gravity and Fundamental Physics
Prof. Dr. Alessandra Buonanno talks about the observation of gravitational waves, the models needed to predict them, and the significance of the knowledge gained.

In 2015, researchers observed the first gravitational wave on Earth. This gravitational wave was caused by the collision of two black holes. It was a milestone for astrophysics and provided confirmation of general relativity. at the Leopoldina National Academy of Sciences in Halle (Saale), Prof. Dr. Alessandra Buonanno will speak about the observation of gravitational waves, the models needed to predict them, and the significance of the knowledge gained.
