Open day at the Golm Science Park

Whether water-soluble films made from starch, microcapsules for pharmaceuticals, black holes or plastics made from plants - modern natural sciences offer us surprising phenomena and open up forward-looking technologies.

On Saturday, August 30, 2003, we would like to invite you, together with Minister of Science Prof. Johanna Wanka, to inform yourself about our research and its manifold applications. For the third time, the Science Park Golm presents to the public the multifaceted scientific work of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research and the Max Planck Institutes for Gravitational Physics, Colloids and Interfaces and Molecular Plant Physiology.

Visitors can enter the strange world of quanta, discover dimensions that are a millionth of a millimetre in size in the scanning tunneling microscope, get to know the material plants are made of or learn about the properties of high-tech plastics. In our children's research area, even the youngest children can discover the natural sciences by playing around with soap bubbles, ghost ink and geometric gimmicks.

At this year's Open Day we welcome again the Astrophysical Institute Potsdam and, for the first time, the University of Potsdam with numerous cooperation projects and a student advisory service, as well as the Werder Upper School Centre.
