QuantumFrontiers
AEI participates in the Cluster of Excellence
Unprecedented measurement precision at the largest and smallest dimensions: QuantumFrontiers brings together top metrology researchers to push the boundaries of the measurable.
At QuantumFrontiers, the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute) and the Institute for Gravitational Physics at Leibniz University Hannover develop laser interferometry at the quantum limit and beyond. For this goal, it connects with its partner institutions to create a unique environment of infrastructure and expertise in the region Hannover-Braunschweig. With the Laser Interferometry and Gravitational Wave Astronomy department, research groups on Lasers and Squeezed Light and Quantum Control and access to GEO600 and the 10 m Prototype the AEI takes part in most of the widespanning activities of the Cluster of Excellence.
Topical Groups
QuantumFrontiers researchers advance the topics of the cluster in Topical Groups (TGs). As small, efficient research groups, the TGs network researchers across the boundaries of institutes and institutions. TGs can be closed and new ones can be created. In this flexible structure, the TGs shape the scientific goals of the cluster. As members of the Science Board, the TG leaders also jointly shape the future direction of QuantumFrontiers.
From the 23 Topical Groups of QuantumFrontiers, the AEI takes part in nine and leads five.
