Girls' Day 2024 at AEI Hannover

Laser light and black holes – insights into physics

February 09, 2024

You are curious and always wanted to know why things in nature are the way they are? Are you fascinated by black holes, gravitational waves or laser light? Then studying physics could be just the right thing for you! On April 25, 2024 at a Girls’ Day event of the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute) Hannover and the Institute for Gravitational Physics at Leibniz University Hannover you can learn how to become a physicist and what you can do with such a degree. Registration is possible via the Girls' Day homepage.

Program (the event will be in German)

Our Girls' Day will start at 9:00 CEST and is expected to end at 13:15 CEST.

As well as a presentation about research at the Institute, we will give you information about studying physics and you will have the opportunity to talk to different researchers. We will also build a model of gravitational waves together to better understand these mysterious ripples in space and time.

The full programme will be published here soon.

Registration

We offer 25 places for girls. Our offer is suitable for students in grades 8 to 10. Registrations must be made via the Girls' Day homepage. Our offer can be found in the “Girls' Day Radar“ from Monday, 12 February 2024 at 16:00 CET.

We will contact all registered girls in advance of the event with further instructions and information.

Note for parents

Dear parents,
our offer is suitable for students in grades 8 to 10. We would be happy if your children register with us themselves. Of course you can support your daughters, but in the interest of all potential participants we ask you to pay attention to the passions of your children. Are your children really interested in physics or do they just want to spend Girls’ Day with their best friend?
