Squeezed or entangled light exhibit correlations in their quantum noise properties. Such correlations are at the heart of quantum physics and can be attributed to non-commuting observables and the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. It is technically quite challenging to generate squeezed and entangled states of light, however, these states have been generated and used to experimentally demonstrate, for example, the Einstein-Podolski-Rosen-Paradox and the violation of Bell's inequality. The lectures will introduce some necessary theory, fundamental experiments, technical considerations and some possible applications of so-called non-classical light.
Empfohlene Vorkenntnisse bzw. Hörerkreis: Einführung in die Quantenoptik; Studierende ab dem 7. Semester; (especially recommended for Graduate Studies students).
