Public talk: “Illuminating the Dark Universe with Gravitational Waves”
- Date: Nov 14, 2023
- Time: 05:00 PM - 06:15 PM (UTC UTC 00:00)
- Speaker: Alessandra Buonanno
- Location: Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Wilberforce Road, Cambridge CB3 0WA
The 17th Andrew Chamblin Memorial Lecture will be given by Alessandra Buonanno, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Potsdam. The lecture will be streamed live on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3t1tiPVDMYs
In this talk, Alessandra Buonanno will highlight how gravitational waves are already unveiling distinctive properties of the most extreme astrophysical objects in the Universe, and discuss the discovery potential of future observatories in space and on the ground, which will open new frequency bandwidths.
