Main Focus

My research is focused on studying the black hole and neutron star populations in the Universe with gravitational-wave observations. In particular, I am trying to constrain the formation scenario of stellar-mass black holes using the mass distribution of merger events observed by LIGO/Virgo. I am also interested in the stochastic gravitational-wave background produced by unresolved mergers, and in particular the anisotropies of this background and their connection to the distribution of galaxies in the Universe.   Another aspect of my work is the co-evolution of super-massive black holes with their host galaxies and the calculation of the merger rates of super-massive black hole binaries, as well as the prospects of detecting these mergers with gravitational-wave experiments (LISA and Pulsar Timing Arrays).

Curriculum Vitae

I obtained my PhD in physics in 2014 at the Tel Aviv University working on the hierarchical formation of galaxy clusters under the supervision of Prof. Yoel Rephaeli. I then moved to the Institut d’Astrophysique de Paris as a postdoc in the group of Prof. Joe Silk where I developed semi-analytic cosmological galaxy evolution models and applied them to study the chemical evolution of the interstellar matter and the formation and merger rates of binary black holes. I obtained a Lagrange Fellowship in 2016. In December 2017 I joined the AEI as a postdoctoral researcher.
