Main Focus

My research focuses on the phenomenology of modifications of gravity relevant for the current accelerated expansion of the universe. In particular, I am interested in the observational features these theories have for gravitational-wave signals. The new fields introduced in these theories typically evolve in time, giving rise to cosmological acceleration. As for light traveling in a material, waves propagating over this time-dependent cosmological “medium” can feature dispersion phenomena that can have important observational consequences.

I am also working on inflation, a period of cosmic acceleration at very early times. The associated rapid expansion of the universe leads to an almost scale-invariant and gaussian spectrum of scalar fluctuations. Although this is well understood, not much is known about the properties of these fluctuations around the tails of their probability distribution. I am interested in better understanding this regime and its possible observational signatures.

Curriculum Vitae

I completed my PhD in Astroparticle Physics in 2020 at SISSA (Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati) in Trieste under the supervision of Dr. Paolo Creminelli. During my graduate studies I mostly worked on constraining dark energy theories from gravitational-wave observations.
