In the online discussion “Astro & Co” hosted by Haus der Astronomie, Jan Steinhoff talks about 10 years of gravitational-wave astronomy.

Ten years ago, on 14 September 2015, the first direct observation of gravitational waves was achieved. At that time, the LIGO instruments in the USA picked up the signal of two merging black holes. Since then, scientists have measured almost 220 gravitational-wave events, most of them from colliding black holes as well as a few signals of merging binary neutron stars and mixed systems.
