Gravitationswellenastronomie

In the fall of 2015, a new age of astronomy began. Since then, mankind has been observing the universe in a completely new way. Gravitational waves let us, in a certain sense, hear the dark, invisible side of the universe. With a worldwide network of kilometer-sized detectors, an international community of researchers is listening to mergers of black holes and neutron stars. More than 90 such cosmic collisions in the depths of space have been observed. What we can learn about these exotic celestial objects, how the observations work, and what else might be in store for us in the near future will be revealed in this talk.
