Penelope Gehring

PhD student in the Quantum Gravity and Unified Theories department

What is your current position at our institute?

I am a PhD student in the department “Quantum Gravity and Unified Theories”.

How and when did you choose to do mathematical physics?

During my time in highschool I was mostly curious about mathematics, but during my bachelor studies I got more and more interested in mathematical general relativity and other fields in mathematical physics. This resulted in my master studies in mathematical physics and my research here at the AEI.

What is your academic education?

  • BSc in Mathematics, University of Tübingen
  • Erasmus+ student, Université Pierre et Marie Curie
  • MSc in Mathematical Physics, University of Tübingen

Why did you chose to join the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics?

The IMPRS at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics contains a great mixture of PhD students of various fields related to Quantum Gravity. Especially for a PhD student in mathematics like me, this is a great opportunity to understand the relations between research made in different fields of mathematical physics.
