Postdoctoral position in Quantum Cosmology at AEI Potsdam

Job Code:

Job Offer from January 21, 2021

The Theoretical Cosmology group at the Max-Planck-Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert-Einstein-Institute) in Potsdam invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral position in quantum cosmology. The position is associated with the ERC Consolidator Grant "Qosmology" whose PI is Jean-Luc Lehners. Research in the group focusses on early universe cosmology, in particular on quantum effects in the early universe. Recent topics of interest include: the wave function of the universe and the no-boundary proposal, theories of initial conditions for the universe, path integral methods and Picard-Lefschetz theory, links between cosmological perturbations and quantum information theory, and the quantum-to-classical transition in the early universe.

The ideal candidate should have an excellent academic track record. Prior experience in early universe cosmology and/or relevant quantum physics such as decoherence or quantum information theory would be helpful but is not a requirement. The position is limited to one year, with a starting date at or around 1st September 2021. The position can be extended should further funds become available. Remuneration and benefits will be in accordance with Max Planck Society standards. Travel funds are also included.

Applications should include a CV, publication list, research statement and three letters of recommendation. We value diversity and welcome all applications from qualified individuals. To apply, please fill out this form.
