Linearized perturbations
When a nonlinear system of partial differential equations is too hard
to treat analytically in a fully nonlinear way an option for obtaining
some information is to linearize about a known solution. This is
common in the study of self-gravitating systems but there are some
particular difficulties associated with the Einstein equations which
create obstacles to progress. I am interested in overcoming these and this
is the subject of a
recent paper together with
Paul Allen.
