The International Office at the Albert Einstein Institute
If you are visiting this site, you are probably considering taking up a position at AEI and moving to Germany. Lots of things need to be thought of and even more, if you are planning on travelling with your family.
The International Office (IO) in Potsdam-Golm and Hannover support you in all matters related to your relocation preparations, arrival and stay in the Potsdam/Berlin area and Hannover area respectively.
Our aim is to ensure that your relocation goes as smooth as possible, although there are usually some bureaucratic hurdles to take. Such formalities include visa regulations and health insurance. If you are planning on staying for more than 90 days, it will also be necessary to register your residence and to apply for a residence permit. An overview is provided for your convenience.
The IO is also available to answer questions on topics such as housing, opening a bank account, child care facilities and anything else that you might need assistance with during your stay.
On the Potsdam-Golm Campus, we closely cooperate with the Potsdam International Community Center.
Please find some general information provided by EURAXESS regarding the framework of doing research in Germany here.
Do not hesitate to contact us well in advance of your stay at AEI if you have questions or uncertainties concerning your preparations. For more tailored information please turn to Darya Niakhaichyk for the Potsdam/Berlin area and to Oksana Levkivska for the Hannover area.
We look forward to meeting you!
