Guesthouse on the Max Planck Campus
This guesthouse is situated directly on the Max Planck Campus in Golm (see maps).

From Berlin Airports
|
|
Berlin has two airports: Tegel and Schönefeld. A taxi to Golm costs 50-80 Euro and takes 45-60 mins from either airport. The Institute can pre-arrange a taxi for you at a small discount. Renting a car at the airport is also an option. Public transportation takes one to two hours. Buy a one-way ticket ("Berlin-ABC Einzelfahrkarte"), which costs 2.80 Euro and is good for two hours on all public buses, trams, and regional trains.
From Tegel, you take the bus X9 to Zoologischer Garten. Take the train RE1 to Brandenburg or Magdeburg and get off at Potsdam Hauptbahnhof or take the S-Bahn S7 to Potsdam Hauptbahnhof.
From Schönefeld, take the S-Bahn S45 to Neukölln or S9 to Treptower Park. Change to the S41 and get off at Westkreuz. There you take the S7 to Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. The S-Bahn run every 10 minutes. You can also take the regional train RB22 from Schönefeld to Potsdam Hauptbahnhof which runs once an hour.

From Potsdam Hauptbahnhof
|
|
- By taxi (costs about 10 EUR): Get off the S-Bahn at Potsdam-Hauptbahnhof. There is a taxi rank as you leave the station. Take a taxi to Reuterstraße 23.
- By public transport: Get off the S-Bahn at Babelsberg station and take the exit Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße. As you leave the station, there is a tramstop on your left.
If the trams are still running (before about 1 a.m.):
Get on any tram going to Fontanestraße and go to the end of the line (Fontanestraße). You do not need to buy another ticket if you have got a "Berlin ABC" ticket. This ticket is valid 2 hours from the moment you stamp it.
Turn right when you get off the tram and walk back down Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße until you see Reuterstraße on your right.
If the trams are not running, it is only a fifteen minutes walk:
Turn right from the station into Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße and walk ahead for about 10 minutes until you see Reuterstraße on your left. Turn into Reuterstraße and walk down the road, until you see number 23 on your right.

From the Institute
|

There is a train from Golm to Griebnitzsee station which runs once an hour. Walk to Golm station (about ten minutes from the institute) and take the train RB 21 in the direction of Griebnitzsee. Get off the train at Griebnitzsee station and walk through the underpass to the exit Ausgang Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße. From here you can either walk or take the bus. For walking (about 15 minutes) turn left into Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße. Carry on ahead until you see Reuterstraße on the right. If you decide to take the bus, turn right. There you can see a bus stop. Get on bus 694 towards Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. Get off at Fontanestraße and carry on ahead until you see Reuterstraße on the right.
Another train (RB 20), also running once an hour from Golm station, ends at Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. Continue as described above (From Potsdam Hauptbahnhof).

From Reuterstraße to the Institute
|

From the guesthouse, turn left into Reuterstraße and walk to the end of the road.
Turn left into Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße and carry on ahead for about 10 minutes until you reach, on your right, the entrance to the Griebnitzsee station.
Instead of walking you can use the bus 694 in the direction of Stern-Center/ Gerlachstr. Get on the bus at the bus station Fontanestraße which is situated on the Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße and step off at S-Bahnhof Griebnitzsee.
You have the choice of taking the S-Bahn to Potsdam (Hauptbahnhof) or catching a direct train to Golm (about every hour).
