Details of the Application Procedure
|
|
Students of all countries can apply if they hold a German Diploma, Staatsexamen, a Master of Science or equivalent. A written thesis is a necessary condition for admission into the school. Exceptionally good students with a bachelor degree will be given the possibility of obtaining their diploma degree at one of the participating universities. It is expected that candidates will work towards acquiring some basic knowledge of the German language.
In order to apply for the IMPRS for Geometric Analysis, Gravitation and String
Theory please submit your application online
here.
Fill out the form and upload the following documents (in German or English language):
- Curriculum vitae (with degrees, examinations, dates)

Important Notes
|
|
- Visa: Students from most countries outside the European Union will have to apply for a visa to study in Germany. For details, ask the nearest German Embassy or Consulate, advisably before you send the application. Usually you must submit a letter from us stating that you are accepted, and a proof of financial support (e.g. award of IMPRS scholarship).
- Note that we are going to change the application system to an online system in April 2010.
Selection Procedure
All applications will be made known to all research groups involved in the IMPRS. After a preselection of candidates on the basis of the applications, the top candidates may be invited for a short (20min) black-board presentation of their diploma work and an interview.
